At this point, everyone seems to have an idea about what yoga, especially kriya yoga is – which usually has to do with gymnastics and flexibility. Yoga can be used as a system to find peace in a stressful environment, to open your body to help relieve discomfort and pain, to help one’s health, and to move from the ego’s reactivity to soul flow.
According to the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (kind of like the Bible of yoga), “Yoga is not identifying with the fluctuations of the mind.” So, in a way, yoga is more mastery of the mind than it is of the body – self-realization! How would your reality be if your mind didn’t constantly fluctuate from what you desire to what you want to avoid; from your judgments to your assumptions; from your joys to your fears; from feeling great about yourself to feeling like a fake and failure; if you were at peace in yourself NOW and now “When…”?
Kriya yoga is “action with awareness.” It is about Self-realization, enlightenment and waking up to the Truth of Who You Are—AND LIVING IT—not gymnastics and social medial likes. We are human beings, not human doings. And if you are really in touch with just being you—as you are—you won’t give a rat’s ass about likes and approval from strangers, or whether you can touch your toes or not!
